🚨 Anthropic experiences widespread outage of its Claude chatbot service

On Monday morning, Anthropic's artificial intelligence chatbot Claude experienced a widespread outage, affecting thousands of users who reported issues accessing its services.

The issues appear to be related to the Claude.ai and Claude Code platforms, although the company assured that the Claude API is functioning properly. Most users are encountering errors when trying to log in, as shown in the screenshot below.

According to the company's status page, "the problems we are seeing are related to Claude.ai and the login/logout paths." So far, Anthropic has not provided details about the cause of the outage, although it has indicated that it has identified a problem and is implementing a fix.

This outage comes after an increase in the number of Claude users, which has gained attention due to tensions in the company's negotiations with the Pentagon. The chatbot managed to rise to the top of the App Store charts, surpassing its rival ChatGPT, after having been out of the top 20 for a prolonged period.

Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered federal agencies to stop using Anthropic products after a disagreement over safeguards preventing the Department of Defense from using its AI models for mass surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said he would designate the company as a threat to the supply chain, although Anthropic has stated that it has not yet received formal notifications regarding this.
